AfterShokz headphones don't work equally well with all hearing impairments. How well sound is received by the user depends on the type of hearing impairment. Unlike traditional air conduction headphones, AfterShokz headphones use patented bone conduction technology where transducers send slight vibrations through the cheekbones and deliver sound directly to the inner ear, bypassing the eardrum. Those with damaged eardrums but a healthy cochlea are most likely to benefit.

Sadly for me there are a few things I dislike about these. You can’t wear these with a headband which is frustrating in cold and windy conditions. I also feel they are a little bit big so do bounce a bit at the back of my head). The buttons are also tiny so I find myself having to take the headset off to find the right button. They do serve a great purpose but I expected excellence based on all the other rave reviews I’ve seen, so have been a little disappointed.
I’ve had the Air’s for roughly 3 months and used them for running and cycle. They have far exceeded my expectations when connected to my phone and Garmin watch. The music quality is very good and only struggles a bit when your in very loud traffic. Also I’ve used them a lot while running and they didn’t fall off your head or move around much, which is brilliant!
I love my new Air headphones! I was advised by my ENT consultant to avoid “in ear” or “over ear” headphones. Didn’t know this type existed until I started to research alternatives. Perfect for when I am exercising, listening to music, audio books, calls, work. I think a few colleagues are very interested too.
I've owned a pair for about 2 years but wanted to update them having accidentally crushed my original! This updated model is a big improvement. They are lighter as well as more comfortable and flexible. I often have them all day (I listen to slot of podcasts) I cycle, work and then do the washing up in them. The controls and phone calls are better too.
Very happy. I can run and cycle whilst listening to music but aware of road and other sounds.
